With the iPhone 7 now available in stores, it was only a matter of time before we began looking ahead towards Apple’s 2017 iPhone model. While Apple traditionally follows a tick-tock strategy for iPhone updates wherein they release a standalone numerical model and then follow it up with an ‘s’ model, there are rumblings that Apple’s iPhone next year will be called the iPhone 8.Rumors of Apple’s plan to call its 2017 iPhone the iPhone 8 as opposed to the iPhone 7s first emerged earlier this year. Now, a few months later, we now have even more evidence that Apple’s next-gen iPhone will be the iPhone 8.According to a report from Business Insider, an Apple employee at Apple’s offices in Herzilya, Israel relayed that they are already referring to the upcoming iPhone internally as the iPhone 8.To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here

Historically, the Monday after each new iPhone launch begins with a press release from Apple where the company boasts about how many new devices it sold over the weekend. And more often than not, each new iPhone release enjoys a more successful launch than the previous launch. But with the iPhone 7, Apple has decided to switch things up. For the first time in history, Apple not be releasing weekend launch sales figures for its new iPhone. In a statement provided to CNBC, Apple explained the rationale behind its somewhat surprising decision. Specifically, Apple believes that its weekend launch sales press release has become outdated, primarily because supply is always an ongoing issue. In other words, even if the iPhone 7 sells out, and Apple believes that it will, sales figures don’t provide a truly accurate or representative gauge as to the true demand for the device. To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here

One of the more interesting iPhone 7 rumors suggests that Apple’s next-gen iPhone will come with a 256GB storage options. While 256GB of storage may seem excessive, it perhaps stands to reason that the iPhone 7 Plus -- on account of its dual camera system which will take presumably large high-res photos -- will need more storage than many are anticipating. That said, an interesting iPhone 7 leak hit the Apple blogosphere earlier today when a spec sheet purporting to be for the iPhone 7 was posted on the Chinese microblogging website Weibo. As evidenced via the photo below, a 256GB iPhone 7 Plus model may be announced next week at Apple’s special media event. To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here
In case you missed it, Apple yesterday sent out invitations for a special media event slated to take place on Wednesday, September 7 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. Per usual, the event will kick off at 10 AM Pacific time and will be live-streamed via Apple’s website.Apple’s upcoming media event will, naturally, primarily center on the iPhone 7. The iPhone 7 likely won’t deliver any breakthrough technological features but users can expect to see substantial camera improvements and enhanced internals. Of particular interest will be how Apple addresses the rumored removal of the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack. While some have speculated that the removal was simply done to make the iPhone 7 thinner, others believe that Apple may introduce a superior Bluetooth alternative in its place. Another item to keep an eye on will be if battery life has been improved or if it will remain largely in line with what we've seen from past iPhone models. To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here
The big rumor surrounding Apple’s iPhone 7 is that it will completely abandon the 3.5mm headphone jack, a familiar port that has been around in one form or another for decades on end. Needless to say, Apple’s decision won’t be met without controversy. While alternatives like lightning-based audio and Bluetooth do exist, getting rid of a port that’s ubiquitous and as exceedingly reliable as the headphone jack is undoubtedly a risky move.Recently, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak chimed in on the iPhone 7 and articulated that Apple may be going down the wrong path. During an interview with the Australian Financial Review, Woz said that Bluetooth technology isn't yet suitable as a replacement to a wired headphone solution. To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here
Based on no shortage of product leaks and rumblings from the rumor mill, the iPhone 7 design will in large part be similar to what we've already seen on Apple's iPhone 6 and 6s models. In fact, there will likely be only two minor design changes on Apple's next-gen iPhone: the removal of the standard 3.5mm headphone jack and the migration of the iPhone's antenna lines from the back to the side of the device. In turn, it's only natural that some industry analysts have expressed concern that the current iPhone design is getting a little bit long in the tooth. Compounding matters is the fact that surveys have suggested that current iPhone owners would be more inclined to upgrade with a completely new design as opposed to the standard introduction of improved internals. To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here
Apple’s iPad lineup may have lost sales momentum in recent years, but the relatively recent rollout of “Pro” models have helped inject a bit of much-needed life into the device. Now comes word via analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (via MacRumors) that Apple has some interesting changes in store for its tablet lineup.According to Kuo, Apple has plans to unveil a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro model sometime next year. Kuo adds that the new pro model will be a complement to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro model and will sit in between a more affordable 9.7-inch iPad model. That being the case, it remains to be seen how Apple plans to position the 10.5-inch iPad Pro model and how it will stand apart from the slightly smaller and more affordable 9.7-inch model. To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here
Apple's highly anticipated iPhone 7 may be coming to stores a little bit later than initially anticipated.
If you recall, reputed leaker Evan Blass published a tweet last month indicating Apple's next-gen iPhone was slated to hit store shelves on Friday, Sept. 16. This rumor was seemingly bolstered when Bloomberg indicated that Apple was planning a special media event for Wednesday, Sept. 7.
But now comes word via 9to5Mac that Apple's iPhone 7 might arrive a bit later in the month. According to a leaked memo purporting to come from an official AT&T retail document, AT&T has two days pinned down for special merchandising resets: Sept. 9 and Sept. 23. While certainly not conclusive and admittedly speculative, this tends to suggest that pre-orders for the iPhone 7 may in fact begin on Sept. 9, with shipments finally arriving two weeks later on Sept. 23.To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here
