Docker at DEVIntersection 2018

Docker will be at DEVIntersection 2018 in Las Vegas the first week in December. DEVIntersection now in its fifth year, brings Microsoft leaders, engineers and industry experts together to educate, network, and share their expertise with developers. This year DEVIntersection will have a Developer, SQL Server and AI/Azure tracks integrated into a single event. Docker be featured at DEVIntersection via the following sessions:

Modernizing .NET Applications with Docker on Azure

Derrick Miller, a Docker Senior Solutions Engineer, will deliver a session focused on using containers as a modernization path for traditional applications, including how to select Windows Server 2008 applications for containerization, implementation tips, and common gotchas.

Depend on Docker – Get It Done with Docker on Azure

Alex Iankoulski, a Docker Captain, will highlight how how Baker Hughes, a GE Company, uses Docker to transform software development and delivery. Be inspired by the story of software professionals and scientists who were enabled by Docker to use a common language and work together to create a sophisticated platform for the Oil & Gas Industry. Docker at Microsoft Ignite 2018

Docker will be at Microsoft Ignite in Orlando, FL the week of Sept 24th to showcase the latest release of Docker Enterprise. Specifically, we will be sharing insights for how to move your legacy Windows applications from Windows Server 2003/2008 to Windows Server 2016 and Azure.

Visit Docker in Booth #644 to learn more about how we’re helping IT organizations learn about Docker Enterprise tools that help you to id and containerize Windows legacy applications. We’ll have technical experts there to answer your questions.

Make sure to check out these sessions featuring Docker:

  • From Ops to DevOps with Windows Containers and Windows Server 2019. Specifically we are highlighting Lindsay, a joint Docker Microsoft customer that has migrated Windows legacy apps with Docker Enterprise to Azure. You can get more details about the session here.
  • Thursday 9/27 @ 2pm: HPE Theatre in the HPE booth #2125. The session will focus on how Docker Enterprise is  helping customers migrate their legacy apps and run them in a hybrid environment.
  • Get a Hands on Tutorial at the Docker User Group

Docker is also partnering with Docker Captains in Orlando to deliver a hands-on lab focused on migrating a legacy Continue reading

Jabil Enables a Global Software Supply Chain with Docker Enterprise Edition

Jabil, one of world’s most technologically advanced manufacturing solutions provider with over 100 sites in 29 countries is embarking on a digital journey to modernize their technology infrastructure so the company is better able to deliver the right solutions at the right time to their global customer base.

Starting the Digital Journey By Modernizing .NET Apps

As Jabil embarked on their digital journey with a cloud-first approach in mind, they investigated how to best migrate their applications to the cloud. Jabil partnered with Docker and Microsoft to leverage Docker Enterprise Edition with Windows Server 2016 and Microsoft Azure for this initiative through Docker’s Modernize Traditional Application (MTA) Program – starting with  a .NET 4.5 monitoring application to containerize.

Since completing the initial POC, Jabil has continued containerizing more applications and has started scaling their Docker Enterprise usage globally. Sujay Pillai, a Senior DevOps Engineer at Jabil, participated at DockerCon SF 2018 in June and shared with the attendees insights on how Jabil is scaling Docker Enterprise Edition.

Improving Application Security while Reducing Costs at the Edge

One growing use case for Jabil is monitoring of the manufacturing floors. Jabil uses lightweight edge devices to run the monitoring Continue reading
